"For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act." - Isaiah 28:21.
Baal-perazim was the scene of a victory gained by David over the Philistines (2 Samuel 5:20; 1 Chronicles 14:11). Arriving at Gibeon with his army, Joshua immediately went into battle with the enemy: "And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not; for I have delivered them into thine hand: there shall not a man of them stand before thee ....And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon …" (Joshua 10:8-10) A strange thing happened on that day. Joshua, seeing that night would meet them before they finished the slaughter of their enemies, proclaimed in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon”. The Lord harkened to the voice of Joshua “And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. …And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.” - Joshua 10:13,14.
The routing of the enemies, picture the battle of the great day of God Almighty, when God will destroy the enemies of His people and completely eliminate them from the earth. “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth...” - Jeremiah 25:32, 33.
