Text:

“And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up thou bald head.” – 2 Kings 2:23.

Comment:

God Almighty is no respecter of persons be they adults or children, whosoever transgress His law will be judged and punished accordingly. The case of The Prophet Elisha and the forty-two children that were torn by the two she-bears from the wood is an example for children to take caution in the way they relate with elders.

Those children mocked Elisha the Prophet “Thou bald head; Thou bald head”, the man of God turned back and cursed them and the consequence that followed was disastrous, they were all killed by the she-bears. The fact that we are living in the time of grace and penalty of such misconduct may not follow immediately is not license for foolishness. King Solomon warned “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” (Ecclesiastes 8:11.) Children should learn to fear God and have respect for elders. The bible admonishes us to respect the hoary head and honour the face of the old man and fear God. – Leviticus 19:32.
