Text: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” - Romans 6:1, 2.

Comment: Our Saviour Jesus Christ said he did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9:12,13) Therefore those who come to Christ must put away their sinful behaviours and do things in the way prescribed in the Holy Bible. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) There are some cultures in which people show hospitality to their male guests by allowing their wives to sleep with them. In some other areas, a young girl is allowed to have affairs with different men for the sake of bearing children for the family (without being married to any of them) while in some places, the woman is married to multiple husbands. Before God these are acts of sexual immorality. Those who have come to the light must shun these archaic and primordial practices which evolved in the days of ignorance, when the light of Christ had not come to them. We should not be split personalities who worship God on Sundays and follow our own ways the rest of the week. (2 Kings 18:20-22) The Bible says that sinners should forsake their evil ways so as to be forgiven by Him. (Isaiah 55:7; Job 33:27-30) The thing that will make one to be clean is the truth, which has the power to cleanse a person from his sins. In John 17:17, Jesus Christ stated, “Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth”. See also John 15:3; Psalm 119:9,11.
