Text:“While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. - 2 Peter 2:19.
A lot of the time, the leaders in various fields make loud promises of how they would better the living conditions of the people once they have the opportunity. But in many cases the leaders are not sincere as they work behind the scenes to do havoc to the people's wellbeing. When the Berlin wall collapsed in November 1989, and the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 many people thought the Cold War had ended and that a new World Order was in sight. But, as a contributor to the book, Contemporary British Politics stated at page 507, ”The end of the Cold War has not resulted in a 'New World Order' as some politicians expected but to a new disorder with conflict in the former Yugoslavia, North Africa, and the Middle East as well as in West and Central Africa” (Compare 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3) Thus, while the technologically advanced countries are preaching peace, they are busy, making more weapons of mass destruction for people to use in killing themselves. How can so-called statesmen, work selflessly to solve the problems of the world when they are largely motivated by greed or selfish interests? “Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.”: - Psalm 28:3, 4.
