Text:“… but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting”. - Galatians 6:8.
To sow to the spirit, is to do things in conformity with the will of God who is the Father of spirits. (Hebrews 12:9; John 4:24) It involves denying ungodliness and worldly lusts and living soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. – 2 Timothy 3:12; Titus 2:12.
In the “new commandment” from Christ (John 13:34, 35, 1 John 2:8-10), the disciples are admonished to love their enemies, to bless them that curse them, to do good to them that hate them and to pray for them which despitefully use them and persecute them. The Scriptures also enjoin believers not to render “evil for evil, or railing for railing, but contrariwise blessing, knowing that ye are thereunto called that ye should inherit a blessing”. In actual fact we should not seek vengeance, “for it is written vengeance is mine: I will repay saith the LORD….” (Matthew 5: 44; 1 Peter 3:9; Romans 12:19, 20) Ordinarily speaking, these conditions or instructions could seem hard to keep but to a spiritually-minded worshipper, it is a matter of faith and determination to do those things that are pleasing in the sight of God. - 1 John 3:22.
Those who sow to the spirit by supporting God's work materially Christ assured thus, “… And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward”. – Matthew 10:40 – 42; Mark 9:41
