“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”. – Romans 12:2.

Not to conform means not to behave in the way that other people in one's area or society behave: this includes our behaviour in talking, eating and drinking, dressing, relationships, commerce, religion, politics, etc. – 1 Corinthians 7:31. 1 John 2:15-17.

The corruption that is in the world is so widespread that a true worshipper of God must strive to be closer to the words of God in the Holy writ and make a determined resolve to keep them, and truly see it as a lamp unto his feet, and a light to his path. (Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 6:23) Not to conform to this world involves deliberately denying ourselves of lots of things the world takes pleasure in so that one “no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lust of men, but to the will of God…”. – Matthew 16:24, 25; 1 Peter 4:1-5.

Such upright conduct would be bountifully rewarded by God Almighty by His grace. “The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me”, so declared David the prophet. He added, “Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.” - Psalm 18:20-26.
