“Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?” – Lamentations 3:37.

There is nothing sinful in seeking help from friends, family members, professionals, etc. by way of godly counsel, assistance in cash or kind or other areas of need.  The point however is that no mortal has the final say in any condition we find ourselves.  Man may fail but the God Whom we serve will never disappoint His own.  James describes the Creator as “…the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. – James 1:17.

There are several instances of people who by all medical assessments have been told would not survive certain life-threatening conditions.  Some have been given durations of their stay on earth by those who saw the 'hopelessness' of their situations. But such predictions  never came to pass; miraculously they turned around to live beyond their “expiry dates”, defying all medical expectations to the glory of God.  Such stories help to consolidate the truism in a popular English adage: “man's extremity is God's opportunity”.

Only God Almighty has the power to speak with finality about life and all other matters in heaven and earth. (Isaiah 14:24, 27)  No matter the duration of our trials, let us continue to look to God in faith; (Isaiah 45:22) believing that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” With this understanding, David added: “And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.” – Psalm 30:5,6.
