Text:“Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” – 2 Chronicles 20:20.
There comes a moment in the course of our services to God when our love and zeal for God becomes an offence to persons who have made themselves opposers of God and of anything holy. It behoves us to be even the more zealous to the shame of the devil.
During his reign as king of Judah, the children of Moab, Ammon and Mount Seir declared war against Jehoshaphat. Naturally, he was afraid, but he did something remarkable when he “set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” His people, the children of Judah were not left out. “And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.” – 2 Chronicles 20:3,4.
In his supplication to God on behalf of the people and himself, King Jehoshaphat said among other things “O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” After the charge from Jahaziel under inspiration of the holy spirit, he made a proclamation, part of which make up the text for today.
God will always stand for the cause of those who believe in Him in that “…there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel”. – Numbers 23:23.
