TEXT : “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” - Psalms 27:13, 14.

COMMENT: In this present world in which satan, the god of this world has turned things upside down, people tend to call evil good and good evil, they put light for darkness and darkness for light, they put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. (Isaiah 5:20) It is common to see people of low moral standards, who have no regard for good name and who lack the fear of God, to be getting on or to be prospering. The devil prospers such ones  to lure the upright to follow the path of lawlessness which he has laid down to cause as much confusion on the earth as possible.

The text for today is an exhortation to the true worshippers to be patient in the course of righteousness and not allow the prosperity of the wicked to distract them in that the successes of the wicked “are temporary”. The Bible teaches us to work, pray and wait on the Lord always. In His due time He will give us our hearts’ desires that are in accordance with His purpose for us.  We should not insist on “instant gratification”.  The prophet David said: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” - Psalm 37:25.
