TEXT : “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6

COMMENT: Faith “is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. It is strong and unwavering belief in the Almightiness of God.  Nobody should expect any help from God if he lacks faith. Apostle James enjoins us to make our requests based on strong faith in Him, “nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord”. (James 1:6, 7) The Scriptures assert that “whatsoever is not of faith is sin”. (Romans 14:23)   God is ever ready to help us, but He hates faithlessness or doubts in His ability to save.  Such doubts lead to impatience, interfaith and regression. Faith grows as one increases in the knowledge of God.  It takes deep roots as one is exposed to trials or temptations.  As one passes through these tests he gains experience and this firms up his convictions. The effect of faith is to make us be at peace with God and with our fellow man. (Romans 5:1) In the words of St. Peter, God Almighty will “after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you”. -1 Peter 5:10
