TEXT : “Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.” - Philippians 3:16.

COMMENT: It must be acknowledged that in a home where religious belief and practices are the same, the marriage bond is always stronger. The Holy Bible says: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3) It is because the Almighty God wants his true worshippers to “walk by the same rule” and “mind the same thing” in order to avoid falling into apostasy, that He instructed His Prophet Moses to guide His people against marriage with people of other faiths. (Deuteronomy7:3, 4) Another important benefit of same-faith marriage is that resolution of conflicts are easier by the grace of God. While it takes enormous time for partners of different faiths to resolve their problems, it is usually not so with those of the same faith. This is because respect for God and His Holy Organization helps them to submit to His will and to avoid the stumbling blocks placed on their way by the devil. And in no distant time they will be able to see their faults, repent and forgive themselves.

Again, when the couple are of the same religious faith, their children are not exposed to contradictory beliefs or teachings which they may find confusing, thereby raising tension, arguments and quarrels. Such situation can cause strain on the family and undermine their cohesion and unity. King David stated in one of his famous songs, to wit: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”. - Psalm 133:1-3.
