: “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” - Matthew 6:28-30.
COMMENT: Jesus Christ warned us against being obsessed for our basic daily needs, such as food, clothing and shelter as such anxiety spring from unbelief, doubts and misgivings. He said we should understand that He Who has created us will also provide for our sustenance by His grace and power. Inasmuch as God provides for far smaller creatures like birds of the air, surely He will do even more for man. Our power is of no avail and indeed human help is of no consequence except we trust in God. It is to Him we owe the supply of our wants and provision of the means of not only preserving our lives but living it in a fulfilling way. (Psalm 118: 8,9; Jeremiah 17: 5-8; Psalm 146:3-5; etc.) David the Sweet Psalmist of Israel stated: “Trust in the LORD and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” - Psalm 37:3-5.
