“Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.” - John 12:35.

Our Lord Jesus Christ told the Jews in those days that he is the light of the entire world and that those who follow him “shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”. (John 8:12) In the text for today, he makes it clear he would not be physically present with the Jews for long, adding that they should make full use of the opportunity they had to hear the truth in that in course of time the devil and his agents would introduce lots of lies to adulterate the truth. This fulfilled years later after the apostles and faithful disciples had died, when “gross darkness” covered the earth. – Isaiah 60:2.

However, God promised that in His due time, the truth shall spring up again in that He will send to the people true pastors who will feed the people with knowledge and understanding. (Psalm 85:11; Jeremiah 3:15) The time when God will destroy the world is fast approaching. He who is sleeping should wake up before the day of decision comes. Jesus Christ the Revelator warned, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” - Revelation 22:11, 12.
