Text:“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” – John 13:34, 35.
Being followers of Christ, we should have the qualities exhibited by Christ while he was on earth during his first advent. One of such qualities was love. He showed love to the people at that time. True Christians exhibit this quality from time to time through visitations and encouragement to the sick, bereaved and downtrodden. The Bible encourages unity and love amongst God's people. It was Apostle Paul who said in the book of 1 Corinthians 1:10: “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” We should continue to do charitable works to encourage the less privileged amongst us. It was because of the love God Almighty has for us that He had to send His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. We should reciprocate this love in our dealings with our brothers and sisters towards the growth and progress of God's work by His grace.
