Text:“If ye fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.” – James 2:8.
We should always strive to do the will of God by having high regard for our fellow human beings. The royal law says, “…thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD”. (Leviticus 19:18) This is the Royal Law. Scripture says, “For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” - Romans 13:9, 10.
God declares through Isaiah the prophet that one who helps anyone in need is doing so to himself, as it is written, “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? toloose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? (Isaiah 58:6, 7). Our Saviour stated, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” - Luke 6:38.
