Text: :“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” - 1 Peter 4:7.
Comment: The end of all wicked things is fast approaching. Mankind should therefore reflect soberly, giving themselves to reading and meditation on the word of God, coupled with prayers. We need the grace of God to be spared in the day of the Lord's anger. – 1 Peter 4:17,18; Isaiah 24:1,6; Zechariah 13:8.
To continue in wrong doing after getting the benefit of being amongst the most enlightened people (spiritually and otherwise) in the history of the world, would be most unfortunate. “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, .. And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” - Hebrews 6:4-6; 10:26,27.
Seeing that the end is near, we should heed the charge of our Lord Jesus Christ who exhorted us thus: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares… Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” - Luke 21:28, 34-36.
