Text: :“It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.” - Ecclesiastes 7:18.
Comment: All true worshippers of God who want to succeed in life and be saved in the world to come, must have the fear of God. To know what is right to do requires reading the Holy Scriptures regularly and giving oneself to constant prayers to turn one from evil inclinations to good thoughts and deeds. (Psalm 119:9,11) The knowledge of God's greatness should make us reverence and honour Him by making us to run away from evil for our good by His grace. - Job 28:28; Proverbs 16:6.
God knows our frame, that we are dust and so He does not expect already-perfect beings but growing persons. When we falter, and accept our faults, repent sincerely and beg for forgiveness, He is ready to forgive. “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” (Ecclesiastes7:20; Psalm 103:8-14) To do otherwise would result in grave consequences, hence King Solomon stated: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Happy is the man that fearethalway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.” - Proverbs 28:13,14.
This conduct, carefully maintained and sustained until the end leads to salvation by God's grace. Scripture says: “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.” - Psalms 4:4,5.
