Text: :“By humility and fear of the Lord are riches, and honour and life”- Proverb 22:4.
Comment: No one will want to entrust someone who is proud and does not have the fear of God in a responsible position, because people who manifest such character will be a liability and a drag on the organization. On the other hand, when serious-minded organizations are looking for people to put into positions, they will choose the person or persons who are humble and God fearing.
Because Mordecai the Jew refused to bow to Haman the Agagite, “he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone” but sought to “destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai”. (Esther 3:6) But as time went on facts emerged to show that Mordecai had been a more dutiful though quiet subject to the king than Haman. It also came to light that even the queen was a Jewess. Eventually Haman was hanged on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. (Esther 7:9,10) Mordecai was promoted to be next to the king dressed in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple”. (Esther 8:15; 10:3) The Bible says, “O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.” - Psalm 31:20, 23, 24.
