Churches are not like business enterprises which are founded by individuals based on their prospects for returning maximum returns on investment. The church is a place of refuge for the people of God and so should not be owned by the husband and wife and their children. From what we all can see, many of the churches are merely business centres set up to make merchandise of the people under false pretences. ( 2 Peter 2:1-4. See also Jeremiah 5:27-31) Rich individuals and groups invest in Churches as they do in any other business after which they expect to get quick returns.

It is because the work of God is not a family business, that when Aaron and Miriam  questioned the leadership of Moses, God Almighty was angry with them and Miriam even became leprous. (Numbers 12:1-15) From that time they learnt to put filial considerations aside in the way they related with him. Also, when the two sons of Aaron offered a strange fire before the Lord, they were killed instantly and their father was told not to mourn or lament for them. (Leviticus 10:1-7) If the work of God were a family business, the sons of Eli would have continued to use their privileged positions to commit abominations. But God rejected them and appointed Samuel to minister unto Him. - 1 Samuel 2:12-36.

Very relevant to this sermon is the example of our Lord Jesus Christ. While he was addressing the people during his earthly ministry, he did not allow his mother and brethren to interfere in his work. The Bible says, “While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” (Matthew 12:46-50)  And have we forgotten what Christ told the woman who blessed the woman that bare him and the paps he had sucked? He said: “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” -Luke 11:27, 28.

Even when he accompanied Joseph and Mary to the Passover Feast in Jerusalem, he stayed behind in the temple answering questions from the doctors and lawyers and asking them questions. “…And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why thou hast thus dealt with us? Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, how is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?” (Luke 2:42-49) From these instances it could be seen that Christ made it clear that the church should not be tied to family concerns.

Therefore, in the work of God, once one person leaves or dies or becomes incapacitated, other capable elders in the church step in and continues the work. Church leaders should know those who have the spirit of God among them to lead and should give such ones the opportunity without being blinded by sentiments and selfish interests - the bane of many an organization.  St. Paul asked, "Know ye not your own selves...?" (1 Corinthians 13:5) Thus, relationships in the work of God are based on spiritual, nor carnal or fleshly considerations. In a family church it is clear to all that no matter how diligent or gifted one could be he could never rise to leadership position. No one dares to criticize the leader and his wife or even their children. There is therefore ample room for cronyism and sycophancy. There will be no accountability or transparency in the running of the church. And who dares complain? But in the work of God there is order, judgment and the possibility that the least advantaged materially could rise to the highest positions by the grace of God. – Deuteronomy 32:4; 1 Corinthians 14:33,40; Daniel 4:17; 1 Corinthians 1:26-29.
Nobody has the right to form a church based on his own whims and caprices. The founding of a Church is the prerogative of God Almighty and His son Jesus Christ through the saints who are anointed, meaning that they are taught by God in spirit and thus have the grace of God to bring forth children for Christ through the preaching of the Gospel. (1 Corinthians 3:11; Matthew 13: 31,32, Ezekiel 20: 40; I Timothy 3: 15) The true churches are the “churches of the Saints”, “the pillar and ground of the truth” which Jesus Christ promised to set up in this age, known as the last days. And these churches will preach the same thing. But today the churches preach contradictory doctrines, even doctrines that are not founded on the Bible but on traditions and opinions of men. (1 Corinthians 14:33; 1 Timothy 3:15; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Amos 3:3)
Every genuine worshipper of God should identify the Church that preaches the truth according to the Holy Bible, and worship God there and not to found his own. God Almighty instructed the people of Israel not establish their own congregations or modes of worship but to worship Him in the manner and place He appointed for them, (Deuteronomy 12:11,13,14; 2 Chronicles 6:6) Today people need not go to Jerusalem to worship the father, but in His true organization in whatever part of the world it is established, where the truth is preached without adulteration. -John 4;22-24; Matthew 24:31; Ezekiel 20;40.
It is because of the danger of false prophets that God Almighty used His servants to warn true worshippers to beware of false prophets and to test (with the word of God) any one who claims to be sent by God whether he is truly of God. – Matthew 7:1,16,20-23; 1 John 4:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:22.
