GOODWILL MESSAGE BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF GOD’S KINGDOM SOCIETY (GKS) – The Church of The Living God – BROTHER GOWIN O. IFEACHO TO THE GKS WOMEN FELLOWSHIP 16TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE HOLDING IN SALEM CITY, WARRI, DELTA STATE, NIGERIA, ON FRIDAY, 25TH MARCH, 2016
Dearly Beloved Sisters,
Hail Jehovah and Jesus Christ!
Grace to you and peace from God Almighty, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I give glory, honour and adoration to the Almighty God, for enabling you the sisters to gather today for this year’s Women Fellowship Conference. This is evidence of the goodness of God which He loads on us daily. (Psalm 68:19) Writing on the grace God bestows on one for serving Him in truth, Jeremiah the prophet stated, “For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:8) That this promise is fulfilling on us should ginger us to be more active in His service and be “enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge”. - 1 Corinthians 1:5.
The last Conference year, no doubt has been a very challenging one for you the sisters in view of the economic difficulties in managing the home, your businesses, work, and church activities. According to reports, the inflation rate is rising and the number of unemployed persons has increased drastically. The high level of corruption in the country has resulted in inefficiency and negligence of essential services; injustice; poverty and fall in living standards; income inequality; poor health services delivery; poor infrastructural facilities and welfare services and poor quality of education. The increasing poverty levels and rising misery index has led to increasing rate of marital infidelity, breakdown of marriages, the flourishing of miracle centres, and so on. Many private school owners, like us are reporting higher default rates in payment of school fees, while some have withdrawn their children and wards from private schools to public schools where they could manage more easily. Added to these is the fact that kidnappers and ritual killers have become even more daring as elderly people of even 85 years and above, politicians, lawyers, teachers, medical doctors, nurses, even infants - just anyone they could lay hands on - are not being spared. There is now no doubt that the hard economic situation in the country is breeding so much discontent and inducing people to crime to the extent that innocent people are no longer safe even in their homes.
This is a sign of the last days of which the Bible says, “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:25, 26). Nonetheless, we must thank God on your behalf for your support on the work of evangelism. May God bless you abundantly – Luke 8:1-3.
The theme, “THE LORD WILL NOT FORSAKE HIS PEOPLE” drawn from 1st Samuel 12:22 is an exhortation that should comfort the children of God in this age. The text says, “For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.” This exhortation was given the natural Israelites by Samuel when they saw the sign by way of heavy rain and thunder that God was angry with them for preferring to be ruled by man than by God Almighty, Who had been their refuge and strength all through the years.
The lesson is that we should look to God always and not to man; we should not think that we are sufficient of ourselves. No one should be dismayed by the devil’s campaign of intimidation as to think that God had forsaken them. The attention of God Almighty is always focused on His children as long as they remain faithful to Him, for, “…The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:1, 2) And David the prophet declared, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:1-4) The Scriptures assure us that Jesus Christ … the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people” (Daniel 12:1) is always interceding for us. We are also assured of eternal life in God’s Kingdom fully established through him who died for us that we might have life, and that we might “have it more abundantly”. (John 10:10) Each of us should therefore, “Be strong and of good courage … fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, … will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”. (1 Chronicles 28:20). Indeed, the Psalmist declared: “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” - Psalm 9:9, 10.
I believe with the theme of your conference in mind you will work with even greater zeal to actualize the items you have in your agenda and to continue to build on the strides you had attained over the years by the grace of God and to continue to do so until the end by His grace through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen
